A dialogue on photography, painting and everything in-between
Nino and Tchiya Herman in a unique 90-minute tête-a-tête on the poetic spectrum between the lens and heart, photography and painting, the sublime and simple, the streets of urban South Tel Aviv and the landscapes of rural Nataf.
The couple present a human perspective on Nino's photographs, and their correspondence with classical art.
Nino has had a long career as a press photographer, documenting Israel's leaders throughout its history. In recent years he has turned to artistic photography, focusing on human scenes from the everyday lives of the people living in South Tel Aviv, as well as on the breathtaking landscapes of Nataf, the village in which he and Tchiya live.
Tchiya has a degree in art history, and brings her own perspective to this joint talk, providing viewers with another angle from which to enjoy Nino's photographs: how they resonate with well-known paintings and classical artworks.

A lecture on photographing from the heart
In an inspiring 90-minute talk, Nino Herman leads his listeners and viewers gently and poetically through the eye and heart's infinite spaces as he recounts his work and world view as a photographer seeking to reach out to people. From his days as a press photographer who skillfully documented the leaders of early-day Israel to the moments recently captured through his camera lens in South Tel Aviv, the lecture provides an overview of 40 years of images documenting easily recognized heads of state and military officials alongside everyday people.
The stories behind the photographs delicately and uniquely combine Herman's personal history with that of the State of Israel – moments large and small, festive and mundane, all of which are connected by this talented photographer's extraordinarily sharp eye, and his camera lens, which provides a containing, tolerating space for encounters with himself and life around him.

שיחה זוגית על צילום, ציור ומה שביניהם
נינו ותחיה הרמן במפגש ייחודי בן שעה וחצי על המרחב הלירי שבין העדשה ללב, בין הצילום לציור, בין הנשגב לפשוט ובין רחובות דרום תל-אביב לנופי נטף.
השניים מציגים מבט אנושי על צילומיו של נינו ואת התכתבותם עם יצירות אמנות קלאסיות.
נינו, צלם עיתונות ותיק אשר עבד לאורך השנים בלשכת העיתונות וליווה את מנהיגי המדינה לאורך שנותיה, עבר בשנים האחרונות לצילום אמנותי המתמקד בסצינות אנושיות מחיי היום-יום של דרום תל-אביב, וכן, בנופיו עוצרי הנשימה של היישוב נטף בו מתגורר ביחד עם תחיה.
תחיה, בוגרת לימודי תולדות האמנות, מביאה למפגש המשותף את נקודת מבטה ומעניקה לצופים בתצלומים ממד נוסף: הדהודים לציורים מוכרים מיצירות קלאסיות.

הרצאה על צילום, לב ומה שביניהם
בהרצאה מעוררת השראה בת שעה וחצי מוביל הרמן בעדינות פיוטית את קהל שומעיו וצופיו במרחבים אינסופיים של העין והלב, ומספר על עבודתו ותפיסת עולמו כצלם המבקש לגעת באנשים. החל מעבודתו כצלם עיתונות שליווה את מנהיגיה של המדינה הצעירה ועד לאנשי דרום תל-אביב של השנים האחרונות, ההרצאה מלווה ארבעים שנות יצירה ותיעוד ראשי מדינות, מצביאים ואנשי יומיום.
דרך הסיפורים מאחורי התמונות שוזר הרמן ברגישות ייחודית את תולדותיו האישיים עם תולדותיה של המדינה – רגעים קטנים וגדולים, חגיגיים ויומיומיים, אשר בין כולם מקשרת ראייתו הייחודית של הרמן, כשעדשת המצלמה משמשת מרחב מכיל וסובלני למפגשים עם עצמו ועם החיים סביבו.
